More Resources
The following selected links include useful resources for researching conspiratorial topics and for further historical study more generally. Among the resources linked here are credible, authorative sources for public information (like the National Security Archives and The Center for Public Integrity), as well as potentially less reliable sources that nevertheless provide information pertaining to historical conspiracies and conspiracy lore. The Museum neither endorses nor assumes any responsibility for content hosted by these third-party sites.
- The National Security Archives - "An independent non-governmental research institute and library located at The George Washington University, the Archive collects and publishes declassified documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. The Archive also serves as a repository of government records on a wide range of topics pertaining to the national security, foreign, intelligence, and economic policies of the United States."
- The Center for Public Integrity - "The mission of the Center for Public Integrity is to produce original investigative journalism about significant public issues to make institutional power more transparent and accountable."
- Disinformation - "Launched on September 13, 1996, Disinformation was designed to be the search service of choice for individuals looking for information on current affairs, politics, new science and the "hidden information" that seldom slips through the cracks of the corporate-owned media conglomerates."
- Seven Insane Conspiracies That Actually Happened - "So where does your average conspiracy buff go to learn about shadowy plots that aren't pure tinfoil hattery? Look no further."
- National Centre for History Education - "Conspiracies, real or imagined, are not new. In classical Athens Socrates was accused of conspiring to introduce new gods and attempting to corrupt the youth of the city. Ancient Rome was a hotbed of conspiracy and political assassination. In more recent history, the Borgias were busy conspiring against their friends and enemies in Renaissance Italy..."
- The Smoking Gun - "The Smoking Gun brings you exclusive documents--cool, confidential, quirky--that can't be found elsewhere on the Web. Using material obtained from government and law enforcement sources, via Freedom of Information requests, and from court files nationwide, we guarantee everything here is 100% authentic."
- "What Really Happened?" - "The History The US Government HOPES You Never Learn!"
